Nebraskans for Workers’ Compensation Equity and Fairness, NWCEF, exists to analyze workers’ compensation laws and issues, and to seek equitable means of providing workers’ compensation coverage to Nebraska workers.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT NWCEF
→ NWCEF is the only Nebraska-based organization which proactively seeks workers’ compensation reform.
→ NWCEF has been in existence since 2002 and is recognized by Nebraska legislators as the leading “voice of business” regarding workers’ compensation issues.
→ The strength of the organization is a result of its large, broad membership base including corporations, small businesses and insurance carriers.
NWCEF’S MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDE
→ Promoted affirmative workers’ compensation legislation to counter the judicial erosion, expansion and increased cost of the system.
→ Initiated and promoted rule changes to the Physicians' Fee Schedule resulting in a 7% across-the-board reduction in physician’s fees.
→ Initiated and promoted legislation which changed the fee schedule for 90% of hospital charges, resulting in a $29 million annual reduction in hospital reimbursement levels according to Hospital Association representatives.
→ Promoted legislation that will reduce reimbursements for hospital in-patient trauma services associated with workers’ compensation claims by about $3.4 million a year.
→ Annually, and successfully, opposed multiple attempts by trial lawyers and unions to expand and therefore increase the costs of the system.
→ Initiated and promoted legislation to level the playing field for employers who play by the rules, by penalizing employers who intentionally misclassify their employees to reduce premiums and gain an unfair competitive advantage.
